Workplace accidents kill 33,876 in China in H1

Workplace accidents have left 33,876 people dead in China during the first half of this year, the country’s work safety watchdog announced here Friday.

Almost 34,000 people died in 6 months in China in workplace accidents?

That seems astronomical to me.

According to BLS, the USA had 5071 workplace deaths in all of 2008.

This provides an interesting contrast in my mind.

  1. Yes, but if you look at the amount of people in China relative to the amount of people in the US that number seems normal.

    • I’ll check the ratios, but almost 34,000 deaths by workplace accident seems a high price to accept
