Alpha Foundation provides $1.6 million gift for Cummings Research Park Biotech Campus
Many of you are not aware of what the HudsonAlpha Institute is, but I would strongly encourage you to click on this link to learn more about this exciting “incubator” for the life sciences housed in Huntsville, AL.
The institute is practically full after opening in 2008 and the buzz in the community is strong when you see and hear about all of the exciting things going on there.
My wish is that Tennessee would have like-minded entrepreneurs come together with sufficient funding to start similar enterprises. We are so focused on healthcare services in the Nashville area that most investors will not take the risk to fund these kinds of ventures.
There are cooperative efforts taking place that are linking business in Huntsville and Oak Ridge. Similar efforts are also taking place to better link Huntsville to Chattanooga. It is refreshing to see the private sector as well as the public
sector help to support these bonds. Special mention goes to Zach Wamp for having the foresight to help initiate the Tennessee Valley Corridor a number of years ago to help promote such regional cooperation.
Congratulations to Huntsville and HudsonAlpha for your continued success. I hope the spillover effect reaches to Nashville and points beyond.
