The link below talks about a recent decision by the USMC to ban social media for a period of one year. While I understand the concerns that the Marines may have, I suspect that the backlash will be so strong that we will see a reversal of this position within the next 30 days.
You may agree or disagree with the value and usefulness of Social Media, but what you cannot disagree with is the depth and breadth of usage. On Facebook alone you are looking at over 230 Million people throughout the world. That’s a pretty big number!
At a time when service men and women are stretched to their limits by longer deployments, Social networks can keep one of those communication lines open with those at home.
