Networking and Gaining Information
It seems like all that I do anymore is related to networking. I have been a compulsive networker for a long time, but I am now starting to build a business that is built around this skill and expertise. At the same time I have been in more requested networking meetings with job seekers than I can ever remember. While there is no doubt that much of this is driven by the state of the economy I also believe that there is a fundamental shift occurring in the way people network for both their work and their business development.
Social networks and social media are rapidly changing the ways that people communicate and build their foundational relationships. More and more people are sharing and providing news to one another and they are circumventing the need for many of the traditional networks that we have used for our news in the past, namely newspapers and the major television networks.
It will not be long before we have completely personalized what we learn and our channels for receiving this information. The pay per view process that exists for many television programs will expand and morph into similar channels for receiving news and many other informational streams that run our lives.
I find this to be an exciting time, but it is also one where a number of business opportunities abound. Don’t hold on too tightly to any traditional channels for receiving information. The way information is shared and communicated is changing and the pace is rapidly accelerating!
