On the Plains-Part 2
I am sitting in the Auburn University Hotel here in the city of Auburn while we get ready for game 3 of the Vandy-Auburn baseball series. I could have never predicted that we would have already played 2 games after seeing the weather forecast on Thursday of this week. It was for rain, rain and more rain and we had a pretty rainy morning and night on Friday as well as a rainy Saturday morning. Somehow, the baseball gods chose to stop the rain at just the right times to allow both games to be played in their entirety at the scheduled times.
It has been a fun time while here and it has been another chapter in the ongoing saga of getting to know people by being in the right spot. Those who have attended my networking workshops know that I believe that much of networking is being in the right spot at the right time. This weekend has been another example in that.
Being on a college campus also allows you to meet the friends of your children. Our younger son attends Auburn and we have met many of his friends here. We always hoped and prayed for the success of both of our boys and those prayers continue to be answered in such wonderful ways including the people they associate with while in school. This has held true for our older son at Vanderbilt.
We will be heading out to breakfast at Waffle House, my wife’s favorite, soon and then on to the ball park so that my older son can take in the game and complete his assignment for the Vanderbilt Hustler, one of the school newspapers.
It has been a great time while here and I am a little sad to have to head home later today although there are many good things waiting for me there. Life goes by so quickly and I can feel the whisk of the wind as we race through this chapter. I have no doubt that I will soon be here typing about my younger son graduating from Auburn. That will be a time of great jubilation, but also one of sadness, as another chapter passes by in our lives.
Blessings to you on this Lord’s day!
